Preserving merry is a great disservice to her. Like Franky said. A ship is born to ferry people across water. If it can't do it anymore then let it die by destroying it, than make it suffer by not being able to do what's it's meant for.

Agreed bruv, he went on a frenzy ride when deep inside he knows merry is dying, he was really being immature, like fr ussop isnt weak, he is strategic and shit but his confidence is crap, but that one time he pulled his big boy pants is when he ruin his own friendship with his crew, more to luffy which made him felt worse. yes the ship is given by Kaya his crush but her butler/helper Merry said the ship is an old prototype, keyword: prototype shes not even fit to be in the water in the first place supposingly. knowing that Ussop may act like that, luffy tried to keep it from him but ussop forced him to fucking tell him so luffy did and he got angry, making luffy feel like he's in the fault there, that being said, bro needs to suck it up and give luffy his apology.
This arc's plot twist made me think that Franky will fix Merry to let her carry her crew for a while more before actually breaking down so yeah

In 247 episodes till now, none of the straw hats have been shown to have spent much time taking care of the ship except for Usopp. Therefore it's understandable that for Usopp, Merry is much more closer to the heart compared to others. And then expecting him to not have stronger feelings towards Merry than others is like asking Usopp to care as much about Luffy's hat as does Luffy.

Usopp MAY have been wrong to walk away from Straw hats but the others aren't saints either as much as you simps here pretend them to be.

This is how trauma works.. many times, it is reflected in attachment to objects of great value to the person. Don't forget Usopp lost his mother too. Without being able to do anything..

Just because people are not always rational doesn't mean we can't judge someone for their irrational behavior. In that sense, just because humans sometimes kill each other we you think that we should not judge a murderer. That doesn't make any sense. It was not just Ussop who lost people close to him, hell almost everyone on the ship has. He is not the only one who has trauma and neither is he the only one who has precious memories for Ship and cares for it, everyone else feels the same way. Nothing justifies letting your whole crew sink rather than accepting reality.
Just to be clear, I don't hate the character but i can and will judge him for being "irrational", unreasonable, rude and ungrateful.
